Hi all,
My girlfriend and I will be traveling to Chicago in a few days. Last year she was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis and is just getting over/ in midst of a current flare. She has received Remicade infusions the past few months but is slowly losing its effect on her body. Her doctor has recently put her back on steroids which is no fun to be on, but helping in the meantime. As we travel and eat our way through the windy city, I want to be able to find a restaurant specifically that she would be able to enjoy. I am not diagnosed with Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis myself, but feel bad as I will be consuming foods that are not so Colitis friendly around her.
So if anyone has any great restaurants they suggest in Chicago that are Colitis/Crohns friendly, I'm all ears!
Thank you!

We are all different in regard to what foods we can and cannot tolerate. However, there are certain foods that are harder to digest than others. Ask your girlfriend to put together a list of foods she can eat and a list of foods she can't eat for you and be aware that she may may not be able to eat some (or even all) of the items on her can-eat list if her colon is flaring.
On those few occasions that I have to eat out with family or friends, I'll order salmon, rice, and cooked vegetables and specify "no sauce, no onions, no garlic." The sauce probably contains fructose, lactose, or some other sugar, which can cause diarrhea, and onions and garlic can cause abdominal cramping and gas.
Hey... What diet is your gf on cuz if shes on the scd its really hard. Theres a really cool vegan place, Native foods cafe on Clarke st, which has a lot of good options. Also uptons break room is a like sandwich bar and is solid
