Hi. Haven't been on the forum in a very long time. I am a long time Crohnie - 26+ years who has been pretty stable with limited meds. My diet is pretty limited...I have a list of never eats and eat when I feel icky, foods I eat when I am OK, and foods I eat only when I feel fantastic. Unfortunately, vegetables (cooked to smithereens, pureed, peeled, whatever) have created pains and problems always. Fruits...well bananas and applesauce are the only ones that don't cause issues.
Had full blood work done (mostly due to work requirement) and my GP is recommending a low carb diet due to a high A1C result. I should exercise more---my life is finally getting back to normal and I am trying that. However, what should I eat now???? Carbs are the only foods I can eat that I know are safe. I have been in the ER twice for just really cooked carrots for example. Tried the power bar they recommended for my husband...elephant sat on my gut for hours after eating half. Tried wheat bread----very little carb difference and hurt off and on from it.
Thinking about barely eating for the next couple of months just to make the test go down...yeah I know not a good answer but hey...
Any suggestions folks?
