Low Fiber vs. High Fiber? (Recommend psyllium husk powder)

Hello all!  I was diagnosed with lymphocytic (microscopic) colitis in November 2019, after years of suffering.  Being a long-distance runner, having this condition is particularly incovenient.

Post-colonoscopy, my physician told me to eat a low fiber diet (i.e, bread, white rice, pasta, etc.).  I followed his instructions for several months, waiting for improvement, only to watch the progression of symptoms worsen to the point of not being able to run and feeling incredibly uncomfortable about even commuting to work or leaving the house.  I was losing weight fast and feeling tired and horribly malnourished.

My very wise cousin suggested ADDING FIBER to my diet.  What insanity is this, I asked?!  Well, here we go:  I added 1 teaspoon of PSYLLIUM HUSK POWDER to a large glass of water in the morning (before consuming anything else).  Improvement the next day!  I slowly increased the intake to 1 Tablespoon per day and I feel like a new person, or better yet, my old self!

I can now maintain my lacto-ovo vegetarian diet, eating all the vegetables I truly love, and run long distances without the fear of having issues.  There are still a couple trigger foods for me (nuts and popcorn), but I avoid or eat them in tiny doses when I crave them.  If I consume psyllium powder and wait 30 minutes, I can even drink coffee without issues - hooray!

While it sounds counter-intuitive to add fiber, it definitely bulks up food and water, and slows it down in the digestive tract, creating more time to absorb the nutrients.

Take care dear friends and I hope you all feel better very soon!
