supplements

Is anyone out there having luck settling down the gut with supplements, such as probiotics, aloe vera,  or drinks that are sold by distributors?  There is a drink out there in a blue and white bottle, it begins with an "S",  that a friend told me about, but I don't know the name of it?  Any help?  I was diagnosed in Feb., am taking Asacol HR, and having terrible pain, bloating, gas, nausea, and cramping.  I need help!!!!

I agree with Bert. Sorry I don't know what supplement starting with an "S" is that you're looking for but everyone on this website should look into something called Fulvic Acid. A good place to get this is http://www.omicaorganics.com/store/ . Also, look into Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. I've had great success with it. You know how everyone has something else that helps or something that hurts them but works for you. Well Chinese medicine understands this.

I was also diagnosed with UC at the end of January this year and have been battling back and forth with staying balanced. I am also taking Asacol, in the beginning it was  800mg 3x a day and then during flare ups it was doubled to 1600mg 3x a day. As of now I've been going on almost 2 months of extreme problems: blood, diarrhea, gas, incontinence, and so on. So my Dr. who was hoping this medication would work on its own, has now added Azathioprine to my list of medications (immunosuppressant). He says it will take at least 3 weeks for improvement and I'm only on day 2.... I am so trying to figure what to take because everyone seems to be taking something different that helps. I'm curious about the SCD diet since it seems to have helped others who are in bad shape, but not sure I can stick to it that long....
I wish I had the magic pill/supplement for you to take because I could sure use it too! Stay positive and maybe try to stay away from certain foods till things have calmed down. Good luck

I have also found an awesome liquid vitamin that I take that gives me the nutrients I need without all of the rough vegetables called Kyani Sunrise.  If you want to know where to get it let me know.  Good Luck

Ive had Crohns for about 25yrs now, and find it has alot to do with food and stress. I stay away from stress as much as possible, and notice what foods have bad reactions and avoid them also.  Probiotics causes me huge gas if taken more than twice a month, find out if you are lactose intolerant and aviod dairy products. Stick to bland,( no hot peppers of any kind). Use Chammomile tea alot to soothe stomach, no soda. peppermint tea also no coffee or caffiene. I use supplements like, B 12 complex , Omega 3, Flax seed and oats for fiber, stay away from wheat or hard to break down fibers that may scrape and cause bleeding. And try some over the counter gas-x with 125 mlg. of simethicone. These things are working for me now, and I have a severe case of Crohns for 25yrs now. Mind your diet like a hawk dont drink alcohol or smoke. When I have a flare up , prednisone is first thing I take, tappering off the dose as symptoms decrease. Hope this helps         B
