Protein for starving patient

Wed, October 24, 2012 11:21 PM

My daughter was recently told she has Crohns.  5 years ago she was told she had UC and had her colon removed.
She is in a major flair event and does not eat because nothing has any taste and fears anything she eats will cause her to have more discharge.
She has lost 15 lbs in four weeks.  Is there a liquid protein drink which does not have milk or wheat that she can take in order to reverse the weight loss?
Thanks

check out the soy and casein. Casein just digests much much slower than whey.

thanks for reply- I thought whey was the same as wheat and had the same reaction if you were allergic to wheat.  I will research a bit more - thanks again
glad this works for you, we will try and see if she has negative response.

there are different types of protein powders you can get., casein, soy, and whey.  I'm not sure how she would do with them, but something you could look into maybe.  I do the whey protein on a regular basis, and it does not effect me much.  there are also some weight gainers that may help that are high in calories, carbs, and proteins.  i have taken those before too. they worked pretty well with me, but just don't rely on them.
