Anyone using probiotics?

Can anyone comment on the use of probiotics and whether these have helped at all? Thank you!

HI - I have been using Probiotics for over 2 years. I have Crohn's. The probiotics definately do work and help a lot esp w/ bloating issues.
I looked into it and basically the reason why is because most folks w/ Crohn's have overabundance of the 'bad bacteria' in our guts.... so the continued introduction of the good bacteria has been really helpful.

I've been taking VSL #3 at the request of my GI for about 2 years now. I can't say I notice any changes but I tend to freak out if I don't take them. I think they may have a placebo affect on me.

Boswellia also helps greatly.

I have taken and currently still take Probiotics VSL#3 for 1.5 years and they work very well. I buy them from Amazon.com. I also use Manuka honey and follow a Paleolithic Diet (high protein, medium fat, low carbs) and went into remission after 3 months. I have done many blood tests and doctors say I have ZERO signs of the Ulcerative Colitis which I had back in July 2011.

I have been taking probiotics for years and they really help!  Try a few kinds to see which ones work best for you and your body.

Unfortunately, the evidence shows that the long-term benefits of probiotics haven't been proven.  That said, they have been shown to be effective at treating antibiotic-induced diarrhea.

Oh and yes they do help but it takes time.
The reason you should take them every day even when you feel good.

I have been using them for over a year now.
I take the Align probiotics.

The first 6 months I took two a day, now one a day.

The key is to continue to take them even when you feel good.

It was a lot of trial and error before I understood that.

VSL#3 is a probiotic.....it was prescribed by my Gastro...most insurances don't cover it so we'll see if it's worth the $50.00 a month price.....

I started VSL#3 in the last few weeks...I have heard very good things about it so decided to give it a chance. I can't really say if I've seen a difference yet because I'm currently tapering down on prednisone, I'm at 25 mgs right now. Of course I feel great because of the pred so we'll see what happens once I'm done....

Good luck!!!!!
