low-fodmap diet

Is anyone familar with the low-fodmap diet? I had a dr. appointment today and due to some symptoms and new treatments, he suggested trying the low-fodmap diet. He gave me a flyer with the foods that are fine to eat. Does anyone have any meal ideas for links to meals under this diet?

I was diagnosed with UC last July.  My GI suggested looking at the Low FODMAP also.  It is geared toward IBS but many patients with IBD also have IBS and I think I am one of them for I had pain and bloating for 10 years prior to my UC diagnosis.  I am presently doing the elimination phase and by the end of the week, I think I will be starting the challenges.  I am doing this with the help of a nutritionist.  Patsi Cotsos has a new book (IBS Free at Last) out helping one go through the diet.  Her book is helpful for there is a great deal of conflicting info on the internet.  She also lists foods you can and cannot eat.  More and more foods are being tested for FODMAP's so the list does change some as time goes on.   I am told that they have been having amazing results with Crohn's patients and good results for those with UC with the FODMAP diet.  It is not a diet per say, but a way to see what area of the FODMAP (which is an acronym for various carbohydrates) that may be causing some issues for you.   Hope that helps.
