Super Bowl Party Recipes

Wed, January 23, 2013 9:57 AM

My family has been invited to a Super Bowl Party but I will still be on a low-residue diet at that time.  I would like to bring something I know I can eat, as football food doesn't tend to be low-residue friendly.  I was thinking of bringing homemade soft pretzels but always have trouble transporting them without them getting cold and/or soggy.  Any ideas on pretzel transport or other low-residue recipes that are still appealing to a football crowd?

Thanks!

every year for the super bowl i do baked chicken wings in a variety of flavors.  the baked versions are much more stomach friendly, and i like to stay away from the hot stuff (though you can make it available to add on after cooking).  i like to do vinegar rubs, *** seasoning, and teriyaki versions for variety.  my personal favorite are honey kissed and parmesan crusted.  they are easy to make, reheat well, and as healthy as super bowl food gets (i realize that's a low bar to jump over).

the pretzels are a good idea also - you could always make the dough and put the pretzels in between wax paper, then use the over at the party for a few minutes so everyone gets hot pretzels.

Transporting pretzels is going to be difficult they don't travel well.  You can prepare them at home and then bake them off in the host's kitchen.   If that doesn't work, why not change it up.......buy pretzel rods, dip in melted chocolate.  You can even take it a step further and dip them in the teams colors.   Stand them up in tall glasses in bouquets, then they serve double-duty make a great centerpiece and yummy sweet treat.
I've brought a tray of sticky wings with some dippngs or make  sweet and sour appetizer meatballs.  Another good idea is chili.  I make a 6 hr. chili in the crockpot  w/o beans, and bring lots of toppings (you have an instant chili-bar).
There are lots of things you can make, I use foodnetwork.com and tailor the recipe to your own needs.  They even have a super Bowl Party section.
Good luck, Enjoy
