My 11 year old son was just diagnosed with Crohn's. Dr. wants to try nurtritional therapy first. (before an medication) Wanted to do an 8 week liquid only (formula) diet, and then anti-inflamatory.
But, I can't see depriving my son of all the things kids like/want to eat!
And he's so thin! He needs to eat!!!
I don't necessarily want to rush to meds, but this option doesn't sound great either...
Anyone else had experience with the nutrional treament?

Hi! I am sorry your son is going through this, but I am glad he has you to support him. I have not personally done the nutritional therapy, but I have a number of friends that did it as kids and it can be tough going without your favorite foods, but they all said that it helped them a lot. It has been shown to work especially well in children so it is good to discuss this option with your doctor as well as your son to see what is best for you.
