Treatments covered by Medicare or Medicare Supplement plan

Tue, November 14, 2023 9:55 AM

Hello all,

Just curious what medications people are using in retirement while on Medicare. I’m a UC patient since 1987 and am currently managing well with Azulfadine and Entyvio infiusions (every 6 weeks). I’m closing in on retirement and have signed up for Medicare, but still using my employers BCBS.

I’m seeing the out of pocket costs for these biological through Medicare and they aren’t going to be affordable for me. Anyone else find the same?

TIA

Medicare and some Medicare Supplement plans cover a range of treatments, from hospital stays to doctor visits and prescription drugs. However, coverage can vary, so it's essential to check your specific plan. If you're looking for affordable options, you might explore Canadian Pharmacy B2B for potential savings on medications. They offer a wide selection and competitive pricing. Check them out for a reliable alternative!

I have also used Azulfadine infusion and luckily my body took it very well. Symptoms have decreased significantly since use.

I'm considering retiring this summer, and I learned at my infusion clinic that biologics are covered by Medicare if taken according to the prescribed schedule and administered at an approved facility. As an example, my insurance company will only cover my Entyvio prescription every eight weeks.

I'm looking at retiring this summer and from what I heard at my infusion center is that Medicare is good at paying for biologics as long as you are on the recommended schedule and it is done at a hospital or infusion center. For instance I am on Entyvio and they will only pay for every 8 weeks.
