Humira and Nervous system side effects

Sun, January 21, 2024 9:30 PM

Hi,

I'm 28 and started Humira in October 2023. My inflammation has gone down drastically and I feel a lot better. Last month I did my shot in my right thigh on Tuesday night and woke up Wednesday morning and had horrible back pain, vision in my right eye was all black for about 4 hours and I felt tingling in my right hand and then lost feeling. I told my gastro and he referred me to a neuroloigst and said it was nothing urgent but I was pretty scared because nothing like that has ever happened to me before. He instructed me to continure Humira.

I conitnued Humira and had episodes that caused me back, knee and hip pain and all the skin on my body hurt. Another time my right leg tingled and went numb briefly.

After one MONTH, i finally received a brain MRI and now I have to wait ANOTHER month to meet with the Neurologist but my results read -

"A solitary focus of FLAIR hyperintense signal abnormality in the left subinsular
white matter is nonspecific, and of uncertain significance. "

What does that mean? Has anyone experinced something similar? Did you stop taking Humira? What could possibly be causing it?

Inflammation of the optic nerve, or optic neuritis, has been reported in very uncommon cases in association with Humira. Immediate medical intervention may be necessary for this disease, which might cause eyesight issues.

There have been rare reports of optic neuritis, inflammation of the optic nerve, associated with the use of Humira. This condition can cause vision problems and may require immediate medical attention.
